If you have a Windows machine you simply have to go get Google Desktop. It indexes and lets you search your gigantic hard drive and with lightening speed.

You are fully aware of the business control risks associated with doing so. Google does not disclose that it is installing a search/web server on the users machine and this needs to be looked at very carefully before you use it or allow it to be used.
