What is RSS? RSS (Really Simple
Syndication) is an XML-based format for timely content distribution. It brings the web to you.
Where can I find an RSS feed reader? News aggregators are the most popular tool for interpreting RSS. The news
aggregator will check the feed for updates and alert you when there is new content. A popular (open-source) news aggregator
is FeedReader. There are many other low- or no-cost news aggregators.
How can I use RSS with Domino?
Create a View in your Domino database. It will describe the documents as XML. Next, create a Page and embed the View. It's that simple. The
Page becomes the RSS feed. Here is an example
database library to get you started. For technical information, please read these excellent articles by Ben Poole, and
Mike Golding.
